Western Magazine Awards entry deadline extended -- again -- to May 29th

The Western Magazine Awards has extended its deadline for another month, to May 29th. It is also accepting all entries at early bird rates. The most recent extension is part of the organization's response to technical difficulties that resulted in its temporary suspension of online submissions March 21. The deadline was extended at that time to April 30. The awards are scheduled for September 26 in Vancouver at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside.

Writer Sean Rossiter to receive Lifetime Achievement Award from WMAs

The Western Magazine Awards have announced the finalists, with winners to be named at the 30th annual gala at the Renaissance Vancouver Harbourside Hotel on Friday, June 15. A full list of finalists is available here. Winners in four gold categories will receive $1,000 each; in all written and visual categories, $750. Among the highlights
  • The Lifetime Achievement Award is to be presented to perennial Vancouver magazine writer and author Sean Rossiter. For many years he wrote the 12th & Cambie column in Vancouver magazine .

Vancouver magazine receives 23 nominations for Western Magazine Awards

Vancouver magazine has been nominated 23 times for the Western magazine awards. Among the other leading in nominations were Swerve magazine, a supplement to the Calgary Herald with 15, BC Business with 12, Western Living/Western Living Condo with 9 combined and Vancouver Review with 8.
A full list of nominees is available.  The winners will be announced at the 29th Annual Western Magazine Awards on Friday June 17, 2011 at the Marriott Vancouver Hotel Harbourside.

Entries now being accepted for the Western Magazine Awards

Entries are now being accepted for the Western Magazine Awards (WMA).To enter, simply visit www.westernmagazineawards.ca and click on MY AWARDS at the top of the page. Entries are welcomed in 28 categories between now and March 4. 
Entry fees are $80 plus HST for magazines with a circulation over 20,000 and $60 plus HST for magazines with a circulation of 20,000 or under. Also, entries for the Lifetime Achievement Award are accepted using the new form from February 7 to March 18, 2011. There is no fee to enter the LAA.
2011 winners in the four Gold categories will receive $1000 each. All 2011 written and visual category winners will receive $750 each. The awards will be presented at a gala receptipn and awards ceremony Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside.
 The awards foundation has instituted new rules for trade magazines. There is no longer the requirement that a trade magazine must have its principle listing in the Business Publications section of CARD. To qualify for Trade Magazine of the Year, a magazine must fulfill all of the following conditions:
- be published in Western Canada
- serve a particular profession or industry
- have a rate card and active advertising sales team
