Talk about inconvenient -- younger Gore nicked
The stories all centre, for some reason, on the fact that he was driving a hybrid car -- wouldn't it have been a better story if Al Gore's son, Al Gore III, had been caught with some drugs in the back seat of a great, honking, gas guzzling Detroit job? However, the 24-year-old son of the former Vice President was stopped for speeding in his Toyota Prius, a sheriff's official said. I guess this is what passes for irony in the U.S. press.
According to these reports, Gore III was arrested on possession of drug possession when police searched the car and found a small amount of marijuana and a variety of unprescribed prescription drugs including Valium, Xanax, Vicodin, Adderall and Soma.
Along with his fame for being a somebody's son, AG III is also associate publisher of Good, a magazine about philanthropy, aimed at younger people. Its gimmick is that it gives away all subscription money to the charities of the readers' choice and says that it hopes in its first year to get 50,000 subscribers and give away $1 million.
