Magazines Canada discontinues small
magazines blog
Magazines Canada has discontinued publication of its Shoestring blog, which served small magazines. The Shoestring had been piloted by Claire Pfeiffer, now Member Projects Manager (who was given to leavening her news items with the occasional piece of doggerel verse -- we'll miss that).
MC President Mark Jamison says the decision was part of a review of the whole "communications toolkit". The organization anticipates completely relaunching its website in the next year, he said, but noted that magazinescanada.ca is already receiving well over 100,000 page views a month and has become a "key contact point" for members and the Canadian industry.

"Our recent member survey gave us a lot of great suggestions for a new site as well as an overwhelming thumbs up for our current siteinfo and our eBulletins, Coverlines and Page," he said.

Sigh... dare we compare the state of small magazines with the fate of the small mag blog?! Please don't untie your knot, Shoestring.
