Derek Weiler, editor of Quill & Quire dies, aged 40
[This post has been updated] Derek Weiler, the editor of Quill & Quire, the magazine for the library and book trade, passed away suddenly on Sunday at 40. The death was announced in a posting on the magazine's website.
[Update2] An article in the Waterloo Region Record says that visitations will be held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home in Kitchener. Weiler's funeral will follow on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Weiler graduated from the University of Waterloo with Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English Literature, and from Centennial College in Toronto with a Certificate in Magazine and Book Publishing. He joined the magazine in 1999.[Update] A Facebook tribute site has been put up, which now has a couple of hundred adherents. There is also a nice tribute online at the Globe and Mail by Martin Levin.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Sari Morrison.

Born with a congenital heart defect, Weiler's family knew it was a condition that would become more grave as he grew older.
"He was able to enjoy life with the complications he had," said his father, Gerald, who worked at the Record for 44 years in production and on the newsroom copy desk. "It slowed him down, but it didn't stop him."
