Digital newsstand allows readers to buy Canadian subs and single copies online
So, for instance, a 56-issue subscription can be purchased to Maclean's magazine for $56.67 or single issues can be purchased for $5.49 each. Or 6 issues of Cottage Life for $29.95 or single issues for $5.95
Among the other titles available digitally are Alberta Venture, The Beaver, Breathe Magazine, Style at Home, Canadian Living, Chatelaine, Elle Canada, Geist, The Hockey News, Homemakers, LouLou, More, Saltscapes, SkyNews, Style at Home, The Walrus, Wine Access, Zamoof!. More consumer titles are expected to be added regularly, and a business media newsstand is in development.
This project was made possible with the support of the Ontario Media Development Corporation as part of the Entertainment and Creative Cluster Partnerships Fund.

This seems like an innovative concept from Magazine Canada. However, I am a little puzzled as to why the digital version of the magazine should cost me as much as the regular printed version. For example, you can subscribe to Maclean's online for $56,67 for 56 digital issues, and you can also get a regular one year membership for roughly $1 an issue.
I would be very interested in seeing the response from the public in a couple of month.
Total and complete rip-off, destined to fail.
Agreed with both anonymous and Gen, aren't subscribers supposed to get a bit of a break when subscribing to a digital edition vs. a print product?
Also, considering that Magazines Canada represents the interests of Canadian magazines, I find it bizarre that they've decided to partner with a US-based provider. Zinio offers a fantastic digital platform, but there are also numerous Canadian providers as well.
