Know your border better;
Canadian Geographic can help
The geography of Canada is defined by three oceans and the U.S. border. The latter is the focus of the current issue (July/August) of Canadian Geographic, with five features that chronicle the complicated relationship along the 49th parallel.
One is a book excerpt from Borderlands: Riding the Edge of America by Derek Lundy, about Stanstead, Quebec and Derby Line, Vermont and the strain of sharing a border that runs up the middle of what is effectively one town. It's augmented by photos by Montreal photojournalist Derek Beaulieu.
Another article, by senior editor Alan Morantz, asks What is the Canada-U.S. border, really?
