Flare newsstand cover of year; This, Canadian Art, LouLou, Châtelaine, Macleans win gold


 Flare magazine won for cover of the year for its September 2009 issue at the Canadian Newsstand Awards, which were announced on Monday evening in Toronto. The awards this year for the first time honoured special interest publications and also awarded gold, silver and bronze. The prestigious Newsstand Marketer of the Year award was presented to Scott Bullock, owner of the Circ3 consulting agency.

Small Circulation (<10,000):
Gold: This Magazine, November/December 2009 (note: this is the fifth year in a row); Silver: Franchise Canada, November/December 2009;Bronze: Western Living Condo Guide, Spring/Summer 2009


Mid-Size Circulation (10,000 to 74,999) 
Gold: Canadian Art, Fall 2009; Silver: Canadian Hot Rods, Volume 5, Issue 2; Bronze: Maison et Demure, February 2009


Large Circulation (75,000 to 199,000):
Gold: LouLou, Winter 2009; Silver: Flare, October 2009;Bronze: LouLou (French), September 2009

Extra-Large Circulation (over 200,000 total circulation) 
Gold: Châtelaine, December 2009; Silver: Canadian Geographic, December 2009; Bronze: Elle Canada, August 2009

Special Interest Publications:
Gold: Maclean’s, Michael Jackson SIP;Silver: Hello! Canada, July 13th, 2009 SIP; Bronze: Toronto Life Wedding,2010

Glad to see that the twig-thin fashion model has not been usurped by anything resembling progress in her position as queen of mag covers. Keep reinforcing those insecurities people! They pay your bills.
