Sorry...sort of
Ezra Levant, the Publisher of the Western Standard magazine, sort of made an apology to Alberta Premier Ralph Klein's wife Colleen today in the Calgary Sun. The Standard had quoted an unnamed Klein friend saying something derogatory about Ms Klein. Levant apparently feels badly and has written to Ms Klein personally. But in his Sun article, he certainly didn't make the apology unreserved:
The one victim in all of this is Colleen Klein herself, dragged into a political war. We apologize our report of that outrageous racist comment hurt her feelings. I personally wrote to her two weeks ago to tell her that.
But we can't apologize for reporting on the bitter feud between those who want Klein to stay and those who want him to go.

Isn't it fun seeing all the media coverage this ballsy magazine is getting. And despite the controversial nature, most of the coverage is actually good.
Today, the Globe revealed one of the anonymous sources of the comments about Collen Klein. It's just a matter of time until the other shoe drops on the "fishing buddy" who hooked Ralph in the back.
And yesterday Compas released survey results showing that most Canadian journalists believe the media in this country should have carried controversial Danish cartoons. Read about it here.
Good on you Ezra!
