Canadian Magazines blog adds job board

[Promotional message] You may have noticed that Canadian Magazines now has a job board. It's the little blue box (facsimile seen below) and which resides in the sidebar area over there on the right. It's intended to link up people who are looking to fill jobs in Canadian magazines (editors, writers, art directors, designers, management, ad sales, production, circulation, distribution and so on) and people who are looking for those jobs.

Jobs, classified by type, can be posted for 30 days for $30 prepaid, by clicking on New job offer.

Listed jobs can be seen free by clicking on All job offers.

If you'd like to know more about the reach of the Canadian Magazines, send an e-mail to impresa(at)inforamp(dot)net. [end promotional message]

Ew, what a move! For some time I've been wondering how Masthead and your blog can co-exist (at least, Masthead as a paid-circ critter). Canadian Magazines posts way more news stories than Masthead and now it is taking a stab at the apparent heart of that magazine's main online revenue generator. Exciting stuff! You go girl! (Er, I mean, guy!)

Word of advice to Doug Bennet: value for the money, please!

I think that's a bit mean-spirited. I have said publicly for some time that if Masthead didn't exist, we'd have to invent it. As you may know, I write a regular column for Masthead because I think it's important.

This blog in no way replaces the industry's only trade magazine and what we do isn't prompted by any competitive impulses with Masthead's online news service.

The idea of a job board is one that was suggested by readers and it is an experiment; like any other feature,it will continue only if there is a demonstrated demand for it.

Between Masthead Online and JeffGaulin.com, I'm not convinced we really need another journalism job board. But good luck nonetheless.
