Skunk magazine has a pitch
(and a whiff) all its own

Skunk magazine is published out of Montreal and features detailed information on growing, refining and using marijuana, including various weird and wonderful appliances. Plus young women in various stages of undress, game and music reviews. It also has its own particular kind of sales pitch for an 8-issue subscription ($43 in Canada).
Get your copy of SKUNK delivered straight to your door, no hassles! Delivered in a plain manila envelope with no SKUNK markings, it's completely harmless but a chock-full of skunky goodness.
Oh, and its 35% off the cover price.

Wow, the magazine looks pretty trashy!

You would think there is a VERY limited advertising universe for a publication like this. There are only so many companies that sell "rollies" and vaporizers. I can't imagine mainstream advertisers even breathing close to something like this.

The magazine seems to rely more on circ revenue (that $43 price) than on mainstream advertising. I imagine it also does OK on newsstands. Trashy you may call it but as many mainstream magazines have demonstrated, that's not necessarily an impediment to success.

How many magazines about Marijuana culture are there in Canada? This is really the only one I've ever seen, and if that is the case I'm sure they have quite the loyal audience (Canada has the highest number of pot smokers in the industrialized world, at about 17%) and some modest yet reliable ad revenue.

Honestly, I think something like Flare is "trashier" than this, although perhaps in a different way...

There's also Cannabis Culture out of Vancouver, Treating Yourself out of Etobicoke (a medical marijuana magazine that certainly has some pot culture elements) and Cannabis Health, a Victoria magazine about medical marijuana.
