TEDx Toronto announces speakers

Matthew Ingram, the Globe and Mail's communities editor, and Min Sook Lee, the broadcaster and documentarist, are among the speakers announced today to take part in Tedx Toronto, which takes place September 10 at the Theatre Passe Muraille. Ingram will be talking about "Five ways new media will save old media" and Lee about "Raising my toxic baby". Other speakers and their topics can be found here.

It is an independently organized offshoot of the phenomenally-successful ideas conference about technology, entertainment and design. TED brings together "thinkers and doers" to give short (no longer than 18 minute) talks about "ideas worth spreading" at annual conferences in Long Beach, California and Oxford, England and, now, in satellite events locally organized.

The Toronto event -- themed "What's Next?" will be free of charge and is billed as a webcast event for anyone to watch, but personal attendance will be restricted to applicants who are deemed to be individuals with great ideas and working on innovative projects; whether this makes it a hot ticket remains to be seen.

More can be found out by following TEDxToronto on Twitter or its Facebook page.
