Reed business division hopes to get half its total revenue from digital in 3 years

The business division of Reed Elsevier is hoping to get half of its total revenue from digital, online publications within the next three years. According to a story in Press Gazette, Reed Business Information (RBI) reported half-year operating revenue of £463m.

RBI publishes more than 80 b2b titles such as New Scientist, Publishers Weekly and Variety. In Canada, the company has a number of construction-related publications as Daily Commercial News, Canadata Construction Forecasting, Canadata Construction Starts and Reed Bulletin.

Reed had intended to sell the division but withdrew it last December when it was unable to find a buyer. The company continues to consider RBI a "non-core" asset and may attempt to sell it again when market conditions improve. Right now, the company is looking to make about £100m a year in cost savings.
