Maclean's magazine selling subs for 71 cents a copy
Maclean's magazine is offering a 3-month subscription (14 issues) for $9.95, which may be its lowest price ever per copy; 71 cents. The Maclean's offer is presented as 2 free issues + 12 more. In the same offer, Rogers Consumer Publishing is offering Chatelaine at 13 issues for $12.95 -- a fraction of a penny less than $1.
Total cost across Canada (the offer is only available to Canadian addresses) including GST: $10.45; MB: $11.14; NB, NF, NS: $11.24; QC: $11.2.

Do the math DB. That works out to an annualized intro price of more than $30. It's one of the higher priced intro offers Maclean's has attempted.
Has Maclean's offered its magazine to subscribers for less than 71 cents a copy in other offers? If so, I'll be happy to acknowledge it.
When I was starting out as a journalist, I was told to be careful about use the use of the word "ever." Yes, Maclean's and most weeklies including the worshipped Economist have used low price offers for short terms that work out to relatively low copy rates. Maclean's used to do a lot of 50 cents a copy offers. The average for all sales today is much closer to $1.
A fair criticism, Michael; sloppy to use "ever" since I don't have the historical data to back it up. And I accept your word that offers have been made as low as 50 cents a copy.
However, I well remember when Maclean's tested a series of offers at 99 cents, 89 cents and 79 cents: the first for a regular renewal series; the second for a once-a-year "invoice" (which is what this current offer is); and the third for continuous (i.e. credit card) renewal. At the time, 79 cents a copy seemed quite radical.
