Now what are are you doing reading Texas Monthly?!
I guess they were expecting that none of their 248,000 readers are familiar with that fabulous southern regional magazine.
Pretty lazy.
Actually, I didn't read Texas Monthly or spot this, though I admire it. The comparison was drawn to my attention by a friend of this blog (something we like to encourage).
Ouch, that's gotta hurt, but the fact that the coverlines are superior on the TM cover pretty much sums up Canadian editorial strategy.
Interesting. Checking old ABC statements it appears that Texas Monthly sold over 33,000 copies. But aren't all those Bush-loving rednecks big beef eaters?
I suspect that Vancouverites may be partial to Sushi, so I'm guessing it flopped like a dead tuna.
Yep, CCAB shows 4,500 sold, but that appears to be an agressive estimate, given the timing of the statement. Probably sold 3,400 or so if they were lucky is my guess.
I hope it hasn't been entered in any awards, unless it for the Shameless Rip Off Category, or the Copying is a Form of Flattery Awards.
Aw, come on. Cut them some slack. How many ways are there, if you ignore the top shelf magazines, to show a big slab of meat on your front cover?
