UK women's editors to draw up voluntary code for use of airbrushing, size 0 models

A group of British women's magazine editors, working with the Periodical Publishers Association and the British Fashion Council, are planning to draw up a voluntary code of practice for using models, including deciding how much (if any) image enhancement will be allowed and whether to use "size zero" models. This, according to a story in UK Press Gazette.

The round-table discussions follow the publication last summer of a report by the Model Panel inquiry headed by the Labour peer Baroness Kingsmill on models' health, which recommended that the media manipulation of images be subject to a strict code of practice.
The panel was struck based on concerns over the use of under-aged and underweight models at London Fashion Week.
