Beaver's timing couldn't be much better with column on GGs powers
The saying is that, whenever the genie comes out of the bottle, always ask for perfect timing.
In light of the current turmoil in Ottawa, The Beaver history magazine seems to have experienced just such fortuitous timing in its December/January issue just distributed, publishing a column by regular contributor Christopher Moore called "That King-Byng thing", about an earlier crisis in 1926 and the powers of governors-general to decide if the opposition part(ies) could form a government rather than dissolving Parliament and calling an election. (Moore makes the point that a governor general whose standing relies on prime ministerial patronage is in a weak position.)
