Not so fast with the JPG goodbyes...

[This post has been updated]Apparently, like the recent off-again, on-again Torontoist saga, the death of JPG magazine, about which we posted just on Friday is off, at least for now. A posting on Sunday on the Mr. Magazine site quotes a note from Mitch Fox, president and CEO of 8020 Media saying that they received a tidal wave of response to the rapidly spreading news of the shutdown. So much so that they are entertaining offers and will decide January 7 which, if any, it will accept.
[A]ll of this activity really shows the massive shift in news media consumption,,,,because it shows the power of the press…especially the online press who got the story out wide and fast….And to the right people.

Maybe it’s generational, geographical, or industry related…but there is definitely “something” going on here….And for “it” we’re grateful.
[UPDATE] According to a story published Monday Folio:, 8020 Media is indeed shutting down because it ran out of money, even though it is on "the precipice of profitability".
