Stuart Woods promoted to editor of Quill & Quire

Stuart Woods, a staffer of Quill & Quire magazine, has been promoted to be the editor. He assumes the chair left vacant when Derek Weiler died suddenly in April.

Woods started with Q&Q as an intern in fall 2007 and became a staff writer in August 2008. He began his career in book publishing as an editor at Price-Patterson Ltd. in Montreal.

Alison Jones, the magazine's publisher said in a posting on the Q&Q website:

“Stuart will make a wonderful editor. He has shown with his reporting and reviewing a great understanding of both the art and commerce shaping the world of Canadian books.”

Woods said of his new job:

“I would like to continue to build on Quill & Quire’s reputation for in-depth industry analysis, breaking news coverage, and must-read reviews of upcoming books, while at the same time improving the way the magazine – in print and online – acts as a resource for the Canadian book publishing community as a whole. I am excited by the challenge presented by this opportunity, while at the same time saddened by the circumstances through which it has come about.”
