Learning about The Business of Magazine Publishing at Ryerson University
I am a part-time faculty member at Ryerson University and teach a course called The Business of Magazine Publishing (CDJN112) which is part of the Magazine Publishing certificate at the Chang School for Continuing Education.
The 14-week course is being offered this fall, starting September 14, but people may be having difficulty navigating the Ryerson CE website, which was hacked a few weeks ago. Ryerson relies on online catalogue information and online registration.
If you know of anyone who's interested in my course or other courses and is having difficulty finding out about them or registering, please have them send me an e-mail at d5scott[at]ryerson.ca and I'll do my best to help.
The other excellent courses being offered starting in September are:
If you are in Toronto and have never taken a Ryerson course, please attend the Information Night on Thursday, August 20, between 4:30 - 7. Faculty members there will be glad to advise you. Or you may call for assistance.

Looks like a great lineup, except for a glaring omission. There is no mention of circulation or audience development.
I lecture on these during the publishing program at SFU, so at least some Canadian students are getting the complete picture on magazine publishing.

No discussion of advertising?
Anonymous 1 (Scott Wheatley): Circulation is offered in the winter term.
Anonymous 2: Magazine Advertising Sales, with Gwen Dunant, is listed.
I took the course with D.B. eight years ago and loved it - totally recommended. Absolutely worth the 1.5 hour drive in from Waterloo every week!
