Amazon not content with allowing 6 -10 weeks for delivery of first magazine
Amazon.com has used its clout to dramatically reduce the time between ordering a magazine and receiving the first copy; from 6 - 10 weeks to two weeks. Apparently Hearst Corporation was the first to agree.
Kristiana Helmick of Amazon told the Innovation Summit in New York that sales of magazines over Amazon have increased 80 percent year over year, but products have not been getting into consumers' hands any faster.
It has been a commonplace for readers to wait a couple of months for traditionally sourced magazines; but Amazon's mania for streamlining order processes led them to approach (pressure?) publishers to speed things up.
