Best on Page international ad show now will include Canadian magazine creative awards

The annual Best on Page show of international magazine creative advertising is being expanded by Magazines Canada. As in previous years, there will be a reception in Toronto on April 8, with over 150 international award-winning magazine ads. But now there will also be the outcome of a Canadian magazine creative competition called the Best on Page Awards.
“It’s time that Canada’s magazine industry has an award program it can call its own to celebrate the great creative magazine work being done in this country,” says Gary Garland, executive director of advertising services. “The Best on Page Awards will honour today’s best and help to set the creative bar at a new level for years to come.”
There will be gold awards presented in five categories:
  • Best full page or double page spread
  • Best fractional or small space ad
  • Best campaign
  • Best creative use of the medium
  • Best in show
Judging will be in two stages: first an online vote by the advertising community at large; then finalists will be judged by a peer jury (yet to be named). Besides selecting from the top online finalists, judges will be allowed to ensure that great creative doesn't get overlooked by including one entry as a "wild card".
