Jane Nahirny appointed EIC of
British Columbia magazine
Veteran magazine writer and editor Jane Nahirny has been officially promoted to be editor in chief British Columbia magazine. (Curiously, though the press release announcing the appointment was dated today, the new job took effect in late August.) According to the release:
Ms. Nahirny's background includes 23 years of editorial experience in the magazine sector. She has worked as a freelance and staff writer and editor for numerous national and regional magazines, including Canadian Home Style, Hamilton, Golf Canada, and Wedding Bells. Most recently, she worked as Communications Director for the Montreal-based Canadian Sporting Goods Association.*
As associate editor starting in November 2007, Nahirny was responsible for researching and writing the 18-page sesquicentennial feature for the magazine's 150th issue and developed the master plan for "Share Your BC", a campaign to get BC residents and visitors to contribute their favourite BC stories to a permanent searchable archive.
(*Not mentioned in the release was that Nahirny was the editorial director of Divorce magazine from August 2005 to November 2007.)
