Quote, unquote: For Rogers, it's all about the money

"The statement made no bones about what really concerned Rogers, and it wasn't journalistic standards or political pressure. This was all about money."
-- Montreal Gazette columnist Don MacPherson, writing about Rogers Publishing's statement of regret concerning the "Bonhomme" cover story about Quebec being the "most corrupt province". MacPherson referred to the fact that Rogers has a lot of business interests in Quebec, in wireless and French language magazines and said that a report suggests that Maclean's French counterpart L'actualite (once called Le Magazin Maclean) had seen the possible beginning of a boycott, with "a good number" of people cancelling their subscriptions to punish the parent company.
