Canadian Home Workshop editor Thomson judging TV handyman reality show

Douglas Thomson, the editor of Canadian Home Workshop magazine does a guest turn as a judge of a furniture design project on HGTV's renovation reality show Handyman Superstar Challenge tonight (Thursday, May 1) at 10 p.m. He shares the spotlight with celebrity renovators Mike Holmes of Holmes on Homes and Jim Caruk of the show Real Renos.

In the show, 10 handymen compete with each other in a time-limited project that shows off their skills. The prize is an opportunity to host their own show.

(It is apparently not true that, his celebrity going to his head, Thomson is planning a show called Editor's Superstar Challenge, in which competitors show off their skills writing treatments for a complicated woodworking project.)
