Print will be gone in 10 years, says
Microsoft CEO
As self-serving as it may be, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer clearly believes that magazines and newspapers as we know them will cease to exist as physical products. And he is intent on making his prediction come true. Here's what he was saying to the Washington Post last week.
Oh, by the way, Ballmer (52) also announced last week that he will probably retire in 10 years, about the time when he predicts the last magazine will have disappeared.
In the next 10 years, the whole world of media, communications and advertising are going to be turned upside down. That's my opinion....there will be no media consumption left in 10 years that is not delivered over an IP network. There will be no newspapers, no magazines that will be delivered in paper form. Everything gets delivered in electronic form. It's going to get harder and harder to tease apart what's communications and what's media. To see the video clip of what he said about the future of print and advertising, go here.
