Photos that changed Canada to be
unveiled by The Beaver

"10 photographs that changed Canada" will be officially unveiled at a reception hosted by Canada's National History Society at Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington Street, Ottawa at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 7. Featured in the August/September edition of The Beaver: Canada’s History Magazine, the photographs depict major and seminal Canadian events.

They include images such as Paul Henderson’s last-minute goal in the final game of the 1972 Summit Series in Moscow, the driving of the final iron spike in CPR and the famous nose-to-nose standoff at Oka (see above). Mark Reid, Editor of The Beaver says,

“Whether it be the evocative art photography of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, a powerful war image that revealed an historic forgery, or a terrible turning point in the October Crisis of 1970, these photographs capture the images of a century of change in this country and the role the camera has played both in creating and documenting it.”

Don Newman, host of CBC Newsworld’s Politics will host the official unveiling of The Beaver’s top 10 photos that changed Canada.
