New York and The New Yorker top list of nominees for U.S. National Magazine Awards

New York and The New Yorker once again are the leaders among nominees in the U.S. National Magazine Awards, commonly known as the Ellies. Each had 10 nominations. National Geographic had 7. And 8 titles have been nominated for the very first time, including Architect, The Boston Globe Magazine, The Boston Review, Food Network Magazine, Garden & Gun, Military History, Orion and Out.
The awards, which are run by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME), will be presented on April 22 in Alice Tully Hall in New York City. Each of the winners receive a trophy in the form of a "stabile" entitled Elephant, designed by sculptor Alexander Calder.
