Elizabeth Baird, longtime executive food editor of Canadian Living, honoured

The retired executive food editor of Canadian Living magazine, Elizabeth Baird, has received the Founders Award from Cuisine Canada for a lifetime of service to the Canadian culinary community.
The award was presented during the Royal Winter Fair by the Canadian minister of agriculture and agri-food Gerry Ritz and Cuisine Canada founder Anita Stewart. According to a story carried by the Toronto Sun, Baird was honoured for her "unwavering commitment to the food and food life of Canada."
Elizabeth's career spans nearly four decades, and the contribution of her first cookbook, Classic Canadian Cooking, in 1974, started her on her career as one of the most powerful - if not fundamental - contributors to food writing in Canada. During her many years with Canadian Living magazine, Elizabeth broke so much new ground that it’s impossible to recount her full resume.
