Subscribe and you'll get mail; not direct mail,
real mail
[This post has been updated]There have been several examples, recently, of online magazines/site producing print editions. But it's a new spin when online culture magazine The Rumpus launches a print subscription campaign called Letters in the Mail. For $5 a month ($10 international) the subscriber doesn't get a magazine, but a more or less weekly letter from an author. Participating authors so far: Marc Maron, Stephen Elliott, Janet Fitch, Nick Flynn, Margaret Cho, Cheryl Strayed, Wendy MacNaughton, Emily Gould, and Jonathan Ames. (This is not the first of The Rumpus's initiatives in this direction: it offers a "mystery subscription" where, for $18 ($26 international) you receive a monthly gift in the mail.)
[Update: 24 hours after the campaign was launched 261 people had subscribed.]
