Designer Robert Newman let go at
Reader's Digest (U.S.)

The well-known and respected designer and art director Robert Newman was let go this morning as creative director of Reader's Digest (U.S.) along with two of his art department colleagues.  Newman had been in the job for a little over a year (after 6 months as a consultant.) In a posting on his Facebook page, Newman wryly said
"You know nothing good is happening when you're called into the editor's office at 8.30am and the head of HR is sitting there with a giant stack of paperwork!"
