Latest AMPA guide assists with digital publishing
The Alberta Magazine Publishers Association (AMPA) has produced the latest in a series of how-to guides in its Template series, this time the new Digital Publishing Edition. It's free to AMPA members and available to other publishers across the country for $$9.95 + $3 postage. (A digital edition of the guide will be available to members soon.)
The new guide's various sections deal with a range of digital publishing-related topics including sales skills specific to online magazines, online design, marrying magazines and blogs, building online circulation and creating effective social media strategies.
Previous guides in the series -- which has been created with the assistance of the Canada Periodical Fund and Alberta's Multimedia Development Fund -- deal with circulation, law and what's involved in starting a magazine. From personal experience I can say the guides are not restricted to Alberta concerns but have a lot of good stuff to tell publishers across the country, complementing the Small Magazine Handbooks published by Magazines Canada. [Disclosure: I was co-author on one of these.]
