In search of the baddest Canadian

The Beaver magazine is perhaps better known for telling celebratory stories about Canada's past, leavened with some reporting on occasional scandalous behaviour. But now the magazine is going out of its way to highlight the worst this country has to offer. Publisher Deborah Morrison, who is also President of Canada's National History Society, told the Winnipeg Sun:
"History is not just about the celebratory stuff. Sometimes the most important things we learn are from what doesn't work well. Most people see it as a different way to think about history."
The magazine opened up its website to nominations for The Worst Canadian, living or dead, public or private, and in the early running, nominees ran to serial murderers and sports celebrities.
"We would rather not hear about Uncle Bob, or whoever. We're really looking for people who have had a negative impact on how Canada has evolved over time," Morrison said, adding the site will be screened to avoid hate, libel and slander. "For us, it's all about the values Canadians view as the best and worst of who we are."
We wonder if there is a magazine editor or publisher out there, past or present, who would qualify?

Nominatons can be e-mailed to worstcanadian@historysociety.ca or you can go online and answer at two-question survey.
