John Milne of Rogers business and professional publishing named MC volunteer of the year

John Milne, the vice-president of business and professional publishing at Rogers Publishing Limited, has been named Magazines Canada's volunteer of the year. The award will be presented at the Magazines Canada annual luncheon on Thursday, June 3 during the MagNet conference. The award is presented annually to one individual whose outstanding volunteer contributions have a national impact for the Canadian magazine industry.
The choice of Milne pivoted on his tireless work on behalf of uniting the industry, said a Magazines Canada press release.
"John’s been a great supporter of our association and a generous volunteer, focusing on uniting the industry and helping it move forward," said Terry Sellwood, Magazines Canada board chair and general manager, Quarto Communications. “He is much appreciated in the industry and well-deserving of this honour.
As an unabashed believer in the “one voice” approach for the publishing industry, Milne was instrumental in working with Sellwood and an industry study group to create a business media membership category for Magazines Canada. The association has since welcomed 72 business media titles into its membership. The success of this growth can be attributed in great part to Milne’s leadership.
