BCAMP hosts magazine writers' craft fair

The BC Association of Magazine Publishers (BCAMP) is hosting one of its principal professional development events next week. The Magazine Writers' Craft Fair is on Saturday, June 26 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the SFU Harbour Centre, 515 Hastings Street in Vancouver. The cost is $50 for the full day ($40 for students and BCAMP members). (Attendees get a chance to win a "pitch and professional development prize pack", including a 30-minute one-on-one pitch/feedback session with Anicka Quin, the executive editor of Western Living magazine and $200 in vouchers towards any future BCAMP professional development session.)
Sessions include:
  • Building your brand, with Frances Bula
  • Getting into the market -- and surviving, with Daniel Wood
  • Blogging for dollars, with Rebecca Bollwitt and
  • What editors want, with: John Burns (executive editor of Vancouver magazine); Ian Cockfield (managing editor of EVENT), Matt O'Grady (editor of BCBusiness); Anicka Quin (executive editor of Western Living) and Alexandra Samur (managing editor of online magazine rabble.ca)
