Blame Gisele!? Or blame the distributors?!

The New York Observer reports that Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen's recent cover shots in both Vanity Fair (May) and Harper's Bazaar (April) drew the lowest single copy sales in recent times.

What the story downplayed was the fact that they both appeared during a time of a major blowup in the distribution business when one key player (Anderson News, representing 25% of the business) closed up shop and there was turmoil across the newsstands of the land. Newsstand sales dropped about 12% over all. Bundchen shouldn't take the heat for that.

I dunno -- could be a silent protest. Could be that men are resenting her for p-whipping her man Tom Brady into doing her errands on a bicycle with a yorkie in the basket. Could be a protest against power babes everywhere. Could be...
